Ditch Mitch...
When Mitch McConnell was the Majority Leader, and therefore head of the Senate, he made it his sworn duty to pass nothing, especially if it helped the American people.
Deadbeat Mitch McConnell
In the minority, Mitch McConnell is doing the exact same thing.
“How is that possible?” you may ask.
To fully understand how this works, it’s important to know how a bill becomes a law. Let me help:

…and this, boys and girls, is what happens in a perfect America. One without the likes of the Republican Party and the filibuster.
But thanks to the Republican Party and the filibuster, the Senate is simply a place where bills go to die.
You see, the filibuster is a little trick the Republican Party uses in the Senate to make sure nothing gets passed. The House of Representatives needs 10 Republican Senators to vote for a bill they’ve already passed to send it on to President Biden for his signature.
And, under Mitch McConnell…that’s just never gonna happen.
Mitch McConnell, by the way is the “Senator” of Kentucky. The reason I put the word Senator in quotes is because the last time Mitch McConnell was actually in Kentucky, there were only 13 colonies.
The House of Representatives...
Your Congresspeople are doing their jobs. Obviously, some more than others. The fact that Jim Jordan of Ohio has been in Congress for fourteen years and has NEVER gotten a bill passed, is an exception in point. The point is, they have written and passed, on a bipartisan basis, many bills that they have sent on to Senator Chuck Schumer.
And there they sit.
Democrats should agree to this compromise if Republicans also offer to abolish the Senate. https://t.co/KKkQwVpIEY
For instance, recently more states have approved the ERA — Nevada in 2017, Illinois in 2018 and Virginia in 2020 — reaching the minimum of 38 states required by Congress for addition to the Constitution. The Equal Rights Amendment was passed by the House. It’s now on Schumer’s desk, left to die. The ERA states, in part, “Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex.”
“Why wouldn’t Republican Senators vote for this?” you may ask.
Because they’re Republicans.

The latest version of the Violence Against Women Act passed the House by a vote of 244-172, with 29 Republicans joining their Democratic colleagues in voting for its passage. It’ll die in the Senate, in spite of the bi-partisan support that the Republicans keep bitchin’ and moaning about.
The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, passed 227-203. It received eight Republican votes, and one Democrat voted against it. It has to do with guns. You know damn well no Republican Senator will vote for the safety of Americans.
How can we believe that this country truly values the inalienable rights to life or the pursuit of happiness as long as liberty is equated with the unfettered right to own and use killing machines?
And, of course, there’s HR1. The bill to protect voting rights and democracy in general. It was a sweeping victory in the House of Representatives.
What's happening in the Senate...
The quick and easy answer to the question, “What’s happening in the Senate?” would be, “Absolutely nothing.”
“But why?”
Well, the simple answer is the filibuster. The filibuster gives the minority opposition the power to insist on going against the will of the people. The people, through the election, made the Democratic Party the majority in the Senate. Thanks to the filibuster, that means nothing. Mitch McConnell still gets his way.
Let’s make something clear. The filibuster isn’t in the Constitution. It’s…umm…well……
Filibuster
Nothing will get done in the Senate, as long as the filibuster exists. The filibuster can be changed or eradicated by a simple majority, but there are a couple Democrats who are intimidated by Republicans. The most vocal one is from that powerhouse of a State, West Virginia. It’s the infamous Joe Manchin, who should be anonymous, but thanks to this Senate, he wields a large stick. He won’t let anything be changed to the filibuster. He’s a Democrat. He should be spanked.
The ultimate stumbling block
The Senate...
I was always taught that if someone doesn’t do the job, he or she should be fired. The Senate refuses to do its job. It needs to be fired.
There are over thirty bills on Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s desk that will languish there because he knows they will die if they come up for a vote. They will sit there and collect dust. Any bill that is susceptible to the filibuster will die.
Mitch McConnell promised. Mitch McConnell hates everyone. His own State included.
There really is only one thing that can be done. The Senate needs to be dissolved. We can get along with just the House of Representatives. It’s a plan that will work.
I know it’ll never happen. But we can hope.
Right?
